Belgore Hosts ARCON Leadership, Commits to Strengthening Collaboration

The Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, Dr. Shuaib Belgore, welcomed the leadership of the Architect Registration Council of Nigeria (ARCON) during a courtesy visit and reaffirmed his commitment to closer collaboration to advance the housing sector. 

Dr. Belgore emphasized the pivotal role of architects in nation-building, transforming undeveloped spaces into thriving cities. He expressed satisfaction with resolving disputes among professional bodies in the built environment, noting that the sector is now better positioned for efficient service delivery.

Highlighting key ministry initiatives such as the National Housing Program and the Renewed Hope Housing Projects, he assured ARCON of continued engagement and support. He also acknowledged Abuja’s transformation from a forest to a modern city, attributing it to architectural expertise.

In response, ARCON President Arch. Dipo Ajayi, stressed the importance of collaboration in enhancing Nigeria’s built environment. He highlighted the council’s willingness to support the Ministry and called for greater empowerment of architects to drive impactful projects.

The meeting reinforced ARCON’s commitment to partnering with the government in shaping architectural policies and advancing national development.
